  1. Latex class by Anton, November 2010

I've just spied a latex clothes making class on November 6-7, 2010 on "The Farm" in "south central Kentucky". It's being held by Robert Anton of Anton's Latex in St. Louis Details on the appropriate page under the following URL: http://dulca-scenes.org

Mods - Posted this here but please feel free to move or maybe there should be a page in the Rubberdex. Crossposted from the Death Metal of Latex (http://www.rubberist.net/forums/showthread.php?12829-Death-Metal....of-Latex&p=65364#post65364) thread ARGH! Reached into the latex closet recently and to my dismay it appears that some press fasteners I like to use on garments have begun to stain the surrounding latex.:bonk: Pretty upsetting as the garments ain't that bad but are now stained. ...

  3. plastic snaps or metal snaps? grommets?

I'm looking into making some of my own latex pieces, so far I'm looking to my some chokers and wristlets. then I want to move up to clothing. I know how to sew, and just started to sew my own clothes, but I am totally clueless when it comes to what I can use on latex. I know certain metals are bad, and a big no no, but which is better plastic or metal snaps? can i use metal grommets and eyelets for lacing? help! Thanks ~Latex Kizzie

  4. Painting onto latex

Wondering if anyone out there in IAR-land (see what I did there!?!) has experience with painting onto latex for whatever purpose though I have in mind decoration. Interested to hear anything about recommended types of paint, brands, length of time to dry, durability, methods, whatever really. Thinking about applying decoration to latex with a brush or even with a spraypaint. Any help would be mucho appreciated.

  5. 4d rubber USA/canada Co-op latex sheet order

Me and dawnamatrix designs are putting in a last minute latex order from 4D rubber in the UK (http://fourdrubber.com/) and are welcoming others to join in from the USA and canada. This is focused mainly for the USA and canada people who need sheets of latex as getting 4D rubber over here tends to be a costly thing when your going in on it alone! 4D rubber offers a special cheaper price list for USA and canada clients that order in bulk. Normally I try to give everyone more advance notice...

  6. Latex/Rubber Smell

Hello fellow Rubberists, Recently I made a catsuit out of MJ Trends .50mm Orange latex. The latex was easy to work with held glue well (not as good as their black but still bonded perfectly well) and doesn't have much of a perceptible rubber or latex scent. I've worked with MJ's blue, black, green, brown and they all have that particular scent. Personally I am neutral as to the smell, I am attracted but other aspects of this material. However, my partner - good, giving and game as she is...

  7. Leather and Latex: an accidental experiment

Hello So, I have a suit of armor with leather straps and buckles. I won't get too much in details, but I had an issue with the straps being too longs and "flapping around". A friend of mine suggested adding little rubber elastics to help keep them down - not really historical, but they were small, didn't show, cheap and worked. So I left them there as part of my armor, and wore it several times over the course of a few months. Fast forward about a year... I get out my suit, which I...

  8. Old latex shirt melting around snaps

Hi I'm currently repairing a shirt for a client. It's apparently a 10 y-o shirt from Schwarze Mode. It's still overall in pretty good shape. Only the snaps have started to come off. I thought at first it was normal wear and tear and that maybe the snaps had been installed very tightly and had rubbed the latex to the point of tearing. Please note: only the row with the top of the snaps (the round, visible part) are coming off. All of them have almost completely gone through the latex and...

  9. making rubber wristbands

Hi to All I bought in september some shoulder length gloves. There ok for several hours of wearing, but than it becomes to uncomfurtable around the elbows. So today I decided to make the gloves shorter by cutting part of it of(below elbows). Which left me with two pieces of latex about 20cm long. I know not everyone needs to cut up their gloves But everyone gets gloves which get torn(ussally around the fingers) and than trown away.

  12. Why thin glue?

It seems to me that it would be counterintuitive to weaken a glue one is relying on. Is this not what a thinner does? If so, why do people thin a glue for their latex garment construction? I'm not chemically minded so would appreciate any info one might give.

  14. coating / waxing - denim

i have a pair of denim jeans that I thought were rubberized, but after some research I guess they are 'WAXED'. i am not sure with what sort of wax, but i would hope silicone wax so that it is safer in the wash, as it says that the jeans are washable. i have only washed them once since i got them though. here is an attempt from someone to coat their jeans in silicone. http://stylezeitgeist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5671 and although the attempt turned out alright, i think they were...

  15. Recycling Shards and Micro Scraps of Latex

So I have been making my own latex clothing for a short while with mixed but satisfactory results. A by product of this process is the left over bits of latex from off cuts, trimming etc. Clearly it is important to hold on to and reuse the larger scraps for the future. However what does one do with all those bits that are just too small? Is it possible to recycle these micro scraps in any way? I have found this link (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080205095248AAgbEvL) but...

  16. Modifying a Neoprene outfit

Hello We may be getting a wetsuit top for Phoenix, but we have a problem: it has an attached hood, and the neck is too tight. Since the feeling of being strangled isn't very pleasant, we are thinking of cutting off the hood and making a slightly bigger "collar". It is about 4 mm thick closed cell neoprene. Does anyone have advice on how to proceed? Do we need to "treat" the area where the cut has been done so it doesn't "fray"? thanks! Observer

  17. Can anyone make a rubber suit for me?

Hello it may be quite stupid to ask this here, but I just hope someone would help. I would like to ask if any latex fetish friends here who enjoys making latex suit would help to make a m2m latex suit for me, as I don't want to buy from online shops or ebay sellers anymore for many reasons that you can imagine.

  18. Cryogenics and latex. I'm looking for some length of information.

Ok people I'm looking to get some really good information here. The kind that makes most people scratch there heads. So......YES I'm looking for the geeks... Alright I have been kicking this idea around for some time. When ppl are cryogentically frozen there is. or was rather... a problem with the skin as it is such a cold containment area. Now what if rubber were used say such as a vacbed or a long sleeve of some kind, that allowed all the needed monitoring devices to be used. Could this...

Want'ed to ask if anyone has ever made there own sheet latex and what it involves. I know it would be a lengthy process and coming up with the materials would be next to impossible, but I'm looking for an explanation of what is involved.

  20. UV Rectant Colorants, Dyes, and Paint

The search continues for something that will react to UV light and can be painted on dark or black colored latex. So far, the following things have produced undesirable results: Risk Reactor's UV Dye: While not harmful to the latex, this cannot react when painted upon black latex. Experiments will be done on white latx and see how well that works. Bought some stuff at Michaels called Apple Barrel. I was more skeptical than Ray was. Sadly this just wont cut it with the black latex. ...

  21. Vision in a Rubber Hood (formerly: "The Rubber Vision")

The head is sheathed totally in a slave's rubber hood. There is only the tube of the breathing mouthpiece for an opening. The open eyes see nothing but black rubber in utter darkness. But the being inside the head feels everything with an intensity he could not have foreseen. Rubber has rewarded his servitude with the vision of itself.

  23. Thinner toxicity: how to protect oneself when crafting

Hi there! This has been probably adressed before but I didn't find anything specific regarding my problem. I own a (small) latex business and craft on a regular basis. I live in a small studio in Paris and work here too. When crafting I wear gloves and a filter mask suited for chemical vapours A1 B1 E1 and have all the windows in here open (yes, even in winter).

  25. Where to obtain trim strips

I noticed that radical rubber sells 2 meters long, 0.5m thick trim in widths from 0.5 to 1.5 cm. It is in batches of 1kg which makes 140 strips for 0.7cm wide. 30 GPB seems fair enough for such as big amount but adding RR's 35GPB shipping is a bridge too far. Does anyone know a source for (smaller) amounts of trim? Thanks
