Wondering if anyone out there in IAR-land (see what I did there!?!) has experience with painting onto latex for whatever purpose though I have in mind decoration. Interested to hear anything about recommended types of paint, brands, length of time to dry, durability, methods, whatever really. Thinking about applying decoration to latex with a brush or even with a spraypaint. Any help would be mucho appreciated.

Hi I'm currently repairing a shirt for a client. It's apparently a 10 y-o shirt from Schwarze Mode. It's still overall in pretty good shape. Only the snaps have started to come off. I thought at first it was normal wear and tear and that maybe the snaps had been installed very tightly and had rubbed the latex to the point of tearing. Hi to All I bought in september some shoulder length gloves. There ok for several hours of wearing, but than it becomes to uncomfurtable around the elbows. So today I decided to make the gloves shorter by cutting part of it of(below elbows). Which left me with two pieces of latex about 20cm long. I know not everyone needs to cut up their gloves But everyone gets gloves which get torn(ussally around the fingers) and than trown away.

Has anyone used magic marker to write or draw on latex?

Anyone tried one of those hot melt glue guns for construction? Are there differing kinds?

It seems to me that it would be counterintuitive to weaken a glue one is relying on. Is this not what a thinner does? If so, why do people thin a glue for their latex garment construction? I'm not chemically minded so would appreciate any info one might give.

Hello We may be getting a wetsuit top for Phoenix, but we have a problem: it has an attached hood, and the neck is too tight. Since the feeling of being strangled isn't very pleasant, we are thinking of cutting off the hood and making a slightly bigger "collar". It is about 4 mm thick closed cell neoprene. Does anyone have advice on how to proceed? Do we need to "treat" the area where the cut has been done so it doesn't "fray"? thanks! Observer

The search continues for something that will react to UV light and can be painted on dark or black colored latex. So far, the following things have produced undesirable results: Risk Reactor's UV Dye: While not harmful to the latex, this cannot react when painted upon black latex. I noticed that radical rubber sells 2 meters long, 0.5m thick trim in widths from 0.5 to 1.5 cm. It is in batches of 1kg which makes 140 strips for 0.7cm wide. 30 GPB seems fair enough for such as big amount but adding RR's 35GPB shipping is a bridge too far. Does anyone know a source for (smaller) amounts of trim? Thanks
