Safety in numbers reduces damage.
This concept might have enormour potential as one of the main "scoring" mechanisms.
Arwen, could you elaborate in much more detail on how this might work? For example, would there be some kind of "list" which specifiies how many SE's a question such as "Is that really rubber you are wearing?" might earn.
How would you randomize these SE's if at all?
I think you may be on to something here, but I am not enough of a gamer to take it much further at this point. What do you suggest?

Thought I might point out the diffrence between MUCKs and MUDs. A MUCK is a social RPG setting, most MUCKs don't have a combat system, it's just charcter interaction. Alternate Realites is such a place, it's a free form social muck for transfomation enthusists. You don't have any classes to follow, or specific races, almost anything you can concieve goes. Further more tradtional MUCKs are 100% free, no fees, or spam, just free.

Well with any development, balance is key.
Jagex had to change its cooking/eating/health gain system recently in Runescape as players just couldnt be bothered gathering ingredients to make something and accidentally burn it in the oven as their skills were too low...for less health regeneration than if they had just caught and roasted a lobster.
I would imagine gain and loss be controlled by a random roll of the dice behind the scenes influenced by your skills and current conditions.
Player with a social skill of 10 talks to Artificial Character with intolerance of 5 in a neighbourhood with intolerance of 5.
Both the characters mood and where they live affect the outcome.
Your charm needs to exceed their level of tolerance.
So if the game code rolls a 6 against their 5...you would be okay if they were living in a very open neighbourhood.
But in the rougher parts like the one mentioned above...you ned to get past his 5 and the places 5.
If you roll under 10 they arent going to like you...but if you get say +1 for thicker skin and +2 for wearing armor (street clothes) a roll of 8 would still leave you with a SE gain.
SE gain would be based on difficulty, such as you having skill of 20 winning over a crowd with an average mood of 5 wont get the SE rolling, but testing your metal in a very religious anti-everything-sexy, up-market suburb would indeed be very high risk-high gain.
Critical SE loss would leave you a broken, sobbing mess in the street and a dire need for comfort foods or media.
Re: Rubber-oriented role playing game ("RPG")
Erotic City at Renderotica is currently a Freestyle RPG, consider it an alpha release of the game we're developing
When we decided to base it in New Orleans we also decided that real world events influenced the game world, the intent behind this was so that as an example Mardi Gras in the game could only happen when it occured in the real world
Unfortunately this decision turned round and chewed our collective arses off
However we've now got the ball rolling again, the storm is hitting the city, the forces of madness and chaos are roaming the streets, driven by the ancient evil behind the storm, the forces of what passes for good in NO are trying to hold the fort and everyone who can is transferring thru the portals
We're shifting play to Old Orleans for the forseeable future, and now that we are I'm going to try and bring some of the concepts I cooked up in the initial development phases into the action, like, e.g the hentai tentacle monster worshipping rubber cultists

Do you have a URL or two of some good examples of MUCKS which may have a fetish theme? You mention Alternate Realities -- what is their URL?
A "mostly social" environment, as opposed to a combat or competitive theme, seems preferable to me for some kind of fetish RPG. The one logistical aspect that does concern me, however, is that MUCKs are played in real-time so they are synchonous in nature, much like a chat room is. This has some advantages, obviously, but as our group is so very international in nature, the problem with synchronicity is all the time zones our people live in.
I am wondering if there is some kind of way to create a MUCK-like environment that is Asynchronous, much like the forums are. If so, folks could play and interact with each other regardless of their time zone.
Any ideas on how to do this? For example, is there some way the MUCK style of play could be adapted to something like a forum?
Re: Rubber-oriented role playing game ("RPG")
I am really not much of a gamer, so I am not the kind of person to take a leadership role in making an RPG happen here... But I do recognize the potential value of it as a social activity for our members that may promote cohesiveness in our community.
I am, therefore, willing to make IAR resources available to support the creation of an RPG that seems to be particularly well suited to the nature of our membership. The main criteria are that it should be relatively low bandwidth, relatively simple (and free) to implement, relatively simple for anyone to join and play in, and, finally, I think it should be asynchronous in nature.
I keep waiting for a real leader with a vision of a do-able technical platform and a plan for the editorial and game-play aspects of it to step forward to make this happen...
Contact me via private email if you are interested in taking this project "by the horns" and making it happen!
