Default invisible itching after day long latex wearing

    Hi All

Hoping someone can help with this. I was wearing a pair of chlorinated latex trousers all day yesterday and when I went to bed about 1am I woke up at about 2:30-ish with random pink prick 'bite' feelings up and down the back of my legs. Specifically from around my kneed and up to my bottom.

Now I had this once before and much more severe when I anxiously tried on a pair of jeans from the ebay / far east latex makers and worn those for a few hrs. They come with excessive amounts of some sort of silicon polish and talc of unknown origins.

This case is less painful than the first time and my best guess is I should really wash these things with a soak about 5-10 times. These were washed 3 or so before I mailed them off for chlorination.

Only way to lessen the feeling - which is like random needles being stuck into the skin, almost like a bug bite, is to have a hot bath but the really distracting feelings re-appear after I've cooled down.

However if you look at the areas - nothing. No sign of bites, marks or anything that would cause the pain.

Starting to fade now, though it did screw my sleep.

My best guess and after a bit of googling is that there's formaldehyde or a phosphate.

It does sound like a contact rash of some sort, though it also sounds like prickly heat (I used to get this in summer) which was exactly your description that I used to get.

    Thanks.

not sure which it is personally. Its fading now so should get a good nights sleep.

Anyone else's POV welcomed as I'd really like to nip any future incidents in the bud

    Hey Blackice,

I have something like that sometimes when i put something on that has not been washed after use and then has been put away for some time.
Some kind of bacteria, dried up sweat & talc mixed?? i dont know. But desinfection of the skin works:
i use betadine scrub or simply urine (its free and works like a dream because it is a totally personalized kind of medicine.
Really i'm not joking, specially morning urine is the best against all kind of skinproblems...) so next time have a try...
(or maybe you think: piss of....)

    greetings

    See you Latex, Alligatex

In an emergency, urine from a healthy person can be the ideal flush for cleaning a wound. It's perfectly sterile and is already at body temperature. However, the donor must be healthy - even a trace of urinary tract infection can cause serious cross infection.

A FACT is anything you can convince someone else to believe.

I get the prickly heat thing sometimes too. But, as far as your description goes while waring your pants, nope never head that problem. Have you considered that it might be something that you wash with interacting with sweat and latex, or something like that?? Just going to have to figure out what is doing it.

    Blackice-
I get the "prickly" symptoms you describe quite predictably on my shins if I wear my catsuit for, say, more than 8-12 hours. The symptoms show up about 12-24 hours afterward and are very uncomfortable. The only thing I have found that seems to help is hydracortizone cream, and even that takes a while to take affect.

This started happening to me about 3-4 years ago. My first inclination was that it is some kind of localized latex allergy resulting in contact dermititis. (Keep in mind that there are, apparently, several types of latex allergy.)

However, it struck me as strange, however, that the symptoms only appear in my shins. There is no evidence of it in my upper torso, for example. Consequently, this does not seem to be an allergy, per se.

The one element that seems to be fairly common to all of my catsuits from which this happens is that they are quite tight fitting around my shins as a rule.

My deduction, then, at this point, is that skin suffocation coupled with my age may be the source of the problem.

This is just conjecture, but it is the most logical thing I can deduce at this point.

    Can anyone corroborate this?

Has anyone found a more effective cure for the discomfort it causes?

Another vote here for urine - or, if you are not well schooled in the themes and methods of german medical play, perhaps some Eucerin skin cream will be more acceptable. I normally use Eucerin in a "short contact" regime, throwing it on 10-15 minutes before a shower and then washing off the unabsorbed residue. Remember that almost every cream and potion does most of it's effective "work" in the first 10 minutes after application.

That prickle sensation I used to get occasionally; it seems to come from having sweat glands being pretty dormant for a while and then doing something to get them started up - for me it was a blast out on the pushbike. I'd get prickles all over my back as my metabolism picked up speed, then out would come the sweat.

Ataraxia: shins are a funny place. Did you have chickenpox as a kid? Later life plus shins generally equals Shingles (a common post-chickenpox condition)

Starting a couple of years ago, I developed intermitent periods of sever itching on my legs. I, too, worried that I was developing a latex allergy. It occurred at other times but became severe after wearing my rubber for an extended period. I discussed the problem with my doctor (the itching, not the rubber). As is now usual, her answer started with, "At your age...". As we get older, the skin tends to lose its oils and becomes drier and thinner. This develops into the itch. It is agravated by hot baths or showers, (which I enjoy). The Dr.'s answer, "take cooler showers, and use liberal amounts of a skin moisturizer after."

My additional assessment was that wearing rubber also draws moisture from the skin in the form of persperation. and the use of moisturizers , which all seem to contain petroleum products, was not practical.

After a lot of trial and error, I developed a routine of avoiding the rubber for two days in each two week period and using the moisturizers for those two days. This has solved my problem.

I don't know if that regimen will work for anyone else, or if your problem is the same as mine, but it is worth a try.
