I have gotten pretty lax about that. When i first started rubber everyone said don't store plunged with sheet latex. don't use zip locks bags then do use zip lock bags. Don't let it touch tong oiled furniture or polyurethaned furniture even. I gave up. But yes of all the possible problemed substances plastidip is a likely offender.

GOOD FIND. I will order some and report back. It may be fine without a rubber pad, the teeth are quite rounded.

I can only find suspender belts with metal teeth locally. On-line i see some with rubber. They may or may not grab thin latex. also come appear to be rather big and bulky. If you have a brand/model you like please suggest it, i'll get a set.
Yep, they do tend to have more bulk to them than standard clips, thats the trade off. It's possible to get smaller ones that were once used for holding up mens socks rather than trousers. I'll have dig through my list of suppliers and see if I can come up with something for you. Perhaps with some customization you may be able to increase the grip on them.

    Default update 1

    Square plastic teeth:
    https://www.etsy.com/transaction/82531838
Good clips but the square plastic teeth are too sharp for latex. after 5 hours .35 sheet latex has a semi permanent deformation. (i have not worked any further on this model)

    Round plastic teeth:
    https://www.etsy.com/transaction/82531837
These are great clips as is. After 5 hours there is a deformation from the teeth in .35 latex but it goes away after a few hours. Slightly too sharp to feel comfortable. It is not holding well for thin latex stalkings.
I have filed the teeth down slightly with 500 sand paper. That helped with the scarring but still not enough traction to hold up latex. I will reinforce the stalkings eventually. But I also tried gluing round .35 or .45 latex dot over the teeth. Sadly best-test cement and liquid latex body/zipper paint is not holding. obviously it sticks fine to the latex dots but not the plastic.

Any ideas for a glue that grabs plastic and rubber. note that the dots are sacrificial so as long as it doesn't damage the stalkings i am not overly concerned about the damage to the dots. Happy to replace that every so often.

Wired, any luck on the men's sox clips?

Sorry D, didnt get chance, been a tad busy. I'll have a look tonite tho.

For plastic and rubber bonding you need something with a lot of tack, like contact adhesive. We have Evo-Stik here in the UK amongst others, guessing you'll need something like that but available stateside. Idea's anyone?

    Thanks.

Next try will be BARGE CEMENT

    then
    Automotive Goop.

Both are likely bad for latex but will hopefully not soak through the sacrificial rubber i am gluing to it.
2 part epoxy works best for plastic, but i don't want to do that yet.
    Open to other suggestions.

Automotive goop held well. I never tried barg's.

I dislike the high profile of the clips on the garters but the wife asked that i do it to all of them as they are more versatile. I also reinforced the inside of one pair of stalkings where the clips attach. I will report back with how they hold up.

In an effort to not bump up this old post I am reporting back here.

Works great. A dot of medium latex glued to the clasp was very kind to the stalkings. But note that i reenforced all the latex stockings right where the garters clasp on. That means some stalkings are now reserved for only one or 2 garters. Ohh well. It works though.
