    Default Latex sheeting questions

    HI!!
I recently bought two latex catsuits - transparent and black.
I noticed that around the seams on both catsuits there were whitish streaks, likely from the glue.
How can I rub out the glue to restore the shininess without destroying the latex sheet?

I also noticed that the transparent one had areas which had tiny whitish streaks "embedded" in the sheet. Is this from the manufacturing process?
In general what expectations should one have regarding the quality of latex sheeting from reputable vendors like 4D and Radical?
That is - how to tell "cheap" quality latex sheeting from the good stuff?

One more question - I have about 10 latex garments and all of them are allegedly 4D and Radical made. Some of them give off the rubber smell much more than others. Any ideas why this is so? How can this smell be removed (without chlorinating it)?

    10x!!!!

The whitish stains are likely a mix of talc and glue. This happens when overspill occurs and when the talc from the manufacturing process of the sheet hasnt been effectively removed prior to the application of glue. The two become mixed and bonded to the latex. It can be quite difficult to remove glue once its dried even with solvent. You have to rub quite hard with a solvent dipped cloth and this can remove some of the shine from the latex.

The streaks on the trans latex probably stem from the same source, talcum. Left over again from the manufacturing process of the sheet, easier to spot on trans than on opaque sheeting. Talcum is very difficult for garment makers to remove entirley by hand from trans garments before dispatch to customers but thetalcum particles will generally work loose in time and your catsuit will appear more transparent.

I dont think the issues you raise reflect badly on the latex sheet industry as talcum or whatever release agent they use is an essential part of the process. In the first case - black suit - its an issue of untidy construction and the second - trans streaks - an unfortunate side effect of the manufacturing process.

Some of the latex sheet used to make your garments could be made with latex sheet that is fresher than others and this may account for the variety in strength of odour. The smell will diminish in time, best to wear them a lot.

    Hi to All

    Hello tempo tempori

You can influence the smell of latex when you clean your latex.

For instance : Talc there is scented and unsented talc available, usally I and many others would advice you to use the unscented one, because we prefer the latexsmell.
But if you use a scented talc in time the smell of talc will be absorbed by the latex.

If you don`t want to use scented talc, you can influence the smell of latex with the type of soap you use for cleaning your latex clothes.

No worries, glad to help. The issue with trans latex and talc is quite common, I get a lot of questions about it by email and it really is very difficult, almost impossible without a lot of effort, to remove talc from trans sheet and have it look really transparent in the true sense of the word.
