This is THE most difficult thing to get right. For one thing, human noses vary a lot in size and shape, independent of the rest of the face. For another, designers actually fiddle about with noses very little; I have to have my hoods made to measure, because my jaw is too big and my nose too large at the base for most people's designs. Lastly, self-measured isn't always going to give you a good fit; you're not a cutting specialist or a designer and you don't know where on the head the particular measures for tyhat pattern nedd to be taken...

One suggestion: I have never fitted the Libidex hood pattern, because (to my eyes) the shape they make is remarkably asian - a low saddle to the nose between the eyes, and a low rise to the nostril area. I am more of a natural DeMaske hood head - high bridge to the nose, heavy jaw... maybe you should try a different brand?

Default Wearing glasses with a hood/mask

Apologies of I've stuck this in the wrong slot

Basically I want to be able to wear hoods/masks but be able to see where I'm going / what I'm doing, which means wearing my glasses.

Contacts are not an option, personally I don't like them and would like to hear a solution to the problem, not a way round it.

So - does anyone have a solution that will allow me to wear a hood but keep my glasses on? So far my only ideas are (in random order of comedy value):
    • Punch two small holes for the arms of the glasses to go through to rest on my ears as usual
    • Cut two bigger holes for my ears to stick through
    • Glue a small loop of rubber or such like to the outside of the hood to hold the glasses

    Cutting holes seems rather drastic!

Suggestion: self-adhesive velcro - one part on your specs, t'other on the 'ears' of your hood. Perhaps an old/spare pair can be velcro'd up for the purpose. Some may warn us of the effects on rubber of the solvents in the adhesive - but if you get a dozen or so good sessions - go figure!!!

Even more unlikely .... join the legs/arms/whatever you call those bits that reach the ears - join them together loosely with a rubber band (of course), long enough to go round the back of your hood and hold them approximately in place.

Then there's the open-face hood with specs slid through the opening, all made good with the application of a suitable respirator.

What about dismantling an old pair of glasses then glue the lenses over a pair of swimming goggles?

Let us know if any of these stand a remote chance of working! Good luck.

    Hi Jin,
Why not look to places like Cacoon and buy one of their hoods that have lens already in them, such as some of the martian hoods as I call them. Then take the len's out and replace them with the len;'s from a pair of glasses to match your prescription. A friend of mine and I did this with a hood that had blackend len's and put in some tinted. Allowed us to see nmuch better at night and the fit was very close.

Rubber's Finest makes prescription masks. But I couldn't find a purchase link so I imagine you would have to contact them directly to order such a thing. Here's the article: http://www.lustlovelatex.com/2005/05...cal-lenses.htm

Hum... first of all, go and try contacts again. Even just in the last year the technology has improved. I use daily disposables for perving; while they can't quite match my weird prescription, they are close enough for "government work" as it were.

The only reason I can think of to avoid contacts is sweat; hoods make sweat and contacts can quite literally be washed away - but then this is a reason to not use lenses, too. Looking at the Rubbers Finest hood with embedded lenses, I can well imagine having to stop play to let all the sweat out!

One other option than swimming goggles is cycling sunglasses. man yof these are available now with clip-in prescription lens holders, and the lens holder bit is a simple plastic frame without side-pieces. Much handier for mounting on a hood than regular specs.

I'm with DrGummi on this, re lenses. Something I used to do was go to my optician and buy a months supply of disposable lenses, ie 30 pairs. That would last me a couple of years, assuming ony one or two uses per month.

I have also cut small holes in the hood just above my ears to put the arms? legs? through. There are two disadvantages to this. It can be a real struggle to get the arms through, and risk bending or breaking the glasses. Secondly, the part of the hood that covers your nose and goes between your eyes does not lie flat, forcing the glasses away from your face. This is uncomfortable and gives poor vision.

ANY solution that does not place the lenses parallel to your eye and at the right distance is going to give poor vision.

Nowadays, if I am going to have a hood, it will be part of a TE session, so I don't give a damn what or if I can see.

along with the swimming goggle idea, there are also sports goggles made for various other sports now that can be made with prescription lenses, would think there is something out there, that would work and create the look you want as well. Many optomitrists are offering twofers these days, you might be able to arrange something that way.

sorry if this is already mentioned , i just did a quick scan
