The rubber hood is truly something which does not have an analog in normal clothing. Virtually all the other rubber gear can be found in a standard material. The catsuit is really a fully body leotard...
What is it about the rubber hood which seems to have such a huge following?
Clearly there are two basic sides to the story... wearing a hood and seeing someone (or yourself) wearing a hood.
From the wearer's perspective we have heard mentioned the overall compression feeling as a common thread... and with eyes and or mouth closed it appeals to those who have a penchant for bondage.
From the other side... what appeals to a fetishist about seeing a female in a hood? Does it hide her (his) natural beauty? Does it idealize it... Does it emphasize the eyes and de-emphasize the nose? Does it conceal facial structure? Is it about depersonalizing the wearer? Why does hood wearing make someone more appealing? For female hoods... why is the ponytail hood so common. Is it a recognition that long hair is very feminine and sexy? ... more so than a hairless rubber headshape?
What it is about wearing a mask...or a hood.. which appeals not only to those who like to wear them... but like their lovers to wear them? For those who like masked/hooded "lovers"... would their ultimate mask fantasy involve a lover who never revealed their face?
There surely are a lot of masks/hoods on the market and I assume there is a huge demand... aside from gasmasks... what are your thoughts about wearing and seeing them worn?
My view is that when i was younger i had bad echzema.
It covered most of my body, so when i got into rubber i found i could hide my bad self and look all shiny and new!
Now i just love total coverage and have hardly any symptoms so i now love to be covered head to toe...![]()
Hello Dark,
Question is : are you fetish ?
If yes, do it without questionning or you will finish insane...
Humphy
interesting question Dark,
Seeing anyone masked or wearing one myself, it s the same magic, the adrenaline comes when your fullmasked, which gives you the enclosure kick,
it s not just being anonymous, it s a way of relaxation for me too. i feel most comfortable when i am masked.
At same time i enjoy seeing other people masked, it s a kind of " we are alike and share same fetish recognition" it s a bond , it opens up conversation quite easy . i want to ask/hear what they think about hoods and masks, mostly they respond without prob.
for females masked, it s far more special, since few woman come out in public admitting they often are into masking, there must be many mask women for sure, but somehow, it s a bigger step to let others see. and a common fact, they usually only look for women like themselves to get in touch , never to men. .i think number of womenmembers in IAR compared to men does say a lot. its like a separate group inside the mask community
i believe women have the same fetish feelings as men, as far as masking goes
about the ponytail, i wear it myself but i dont consider it to be a female touch, it s just a matter of looking good, it s an extra decoration with a fakecoloured ponytail , it just gives the mask an extra nice look.
ofcourse the real hair ponytail women are always far more in favour, if you want to make impression.![]()
masked lovers is also an ultimate fantasy for me, more than 20 years ago i saw a video where a latexcouple being fullmasked made love with foreplay and all, i did see it once , but it made such a big impression, like i did see it yesterday, i have always been thinking of ending up myself in that way, but it was not to be. just being kissed mask on mask way would be a sensation to me![]()
Seeing any mask worn and noticing people enjoying themselves is a joy![]()
but as a latex AND maskfetishist i am not objective![]()
Hi
Kim from Club Rub is very into hoods as demonstrated by the recent Marquis spread and also the fact she has to come to me at events as I can never recognise her in her new hoods...

the hood frees the mind and gives a blank rubber canvas upon which you can project all of your imagination. To view an unknown hooded figure removes all preconceptions.
within the hood you can be elsewhere very quickly, perception changes and sometimes character changes with it.
The vast majority of hood images are found in conjunction with a catsuit. A hood is the "Total" in "Total enclosure" A catsuit is great, oh yes, but without a hood the outfit is incomplete.
From the wearer's point of view a hood offers completeness, security, concealment, anonymity, satisfaction. It can also offer compression - bondage and occlusion - deprival. I believe the same factors apply to the viewer's perspective.
So the question might not be as much "What appeals about a hood", as "What appeals about deprival, anonymity, security" etc. (in conjunction with a catsuit).
Hoods are also often associated with rubber cross-dressing as they assist in blotting out male facial features, and in the case of the pony-tail hood, add a further degree of feminisation.
The artistic photographer may shoot a hood on a naked torso for a good photo, but this is just art. (horny art at that!)
Then we might consider types of hood (pardon me if I'm seen as categorising them!). Open face hoods are but an embelishment and more likely to be the only type of hood ever seen with 'fashion' rubberwear. - possibly with a ponytail.
As four out of the five senses (sight, hearing, smell and taste) are based at the head, hoods can be used to control/deprive/stimulate them.
Closed hoods with openings for the senses will deny identity - only.
Closed hoods with no/blocked openings get us into total enclosure.
Hoods with strap-on accessories see the start of bondage
Hoods with many layers and accessories - now you're talking (or not, as the case may be)
Hoods with no openings (apart from breathing)/inflatible hoods are the ultimate in rubber enclosure/bondage.
Hood accessories commonly include devices to restrict/block the senses such as eye shields and gags; additionally devices for forced feeding, rebreathing and auditory input.
The idea of anonymity - or depersonalisation - can be used to enhance role-play situations where before assuming a new identity, the player(s) must first dispense with their old identity.
Some people have relational difficulties - normally through childhood irregularities - which cause them to shun intimacy in relationships; here again a hood helps place some distance between themself and their partner.
To conclude, the hood has different meanings to different people at different times; it is a cornerstone of our rubber fetish world, without which we would be incomplete.
Do members have a favourite hood, and why? Does the colour of a hood make a difference?
Gord.
Gord... what a terrific post... What I find most interesting in your post is the strong connection you establish between the hood as completion of the catsuit and "total enclosure".
However, I believe that hood as a separate item for the fetishist has a place. In that sense it may be a recognition that enclosing the head, the face... is a "mini" type of enclosoure and accomplishes so much with "so little"... a kind of short cut to what you describe.
Do you think that some people like particular attributes of full face hoods... that is without all the extras... such as anonymity or bondage... or do you believe that all the attributes blend together in the hood experience? For example.. do some like them ONLY for anonymity...?
