    G'day All,

As mentioned in previous posts, I'm yet another armourall user and I've never had a problem. I've used both the spray and the wipes with great results and my latex stilll looks and feels like new 4 years later.

I've only ever heard of "friends of a friends mate...." type stories about armoural damaging latex and certainly never heard any details of what condition the latex may have been in before using the armourall. On the other hand I've first hand experience using armourall and know many people who also use the stuff and have seen their latex first hand and it looks great.

I wrote to armourall and got a response that their product will not harm latex, rubber, vinyl or leather and the glues/adhesives used on such products in any way.

That said, it doesn't give the best shine, more of a good and easy shine without a slippery residue or coating. If I put a coat of eros bodyglide on my latex I get a better shine than armourall but also get a layer that rubs off easy and leaves a silicone sollution bum print on anything I may sit on.

For ease of use and a good reliable shine every time, I reckon you can't go past the armourall wipes.

    Cheers,

    "H"

Says it all. Every time you wear your latex, you're gonna have to give it a shine (if shiny is best!) I've got to the stage where it's too much hassle, all the shining and mess, every time I rubber-up, and as I've never found a product with a lasting shine, so now I just go around a bit dull sometimes!

During manufacture, one surface of the latex gets a nice shine to it, which can be restored with any recommended polish. But the polish wears off quite quickly and would need to be re-applied.

The BIG problem is that the natural shiny surface of your new latex degades through friction - wearing jeans over a catsuit will make the knees go dull very quickly. This dulling can never be restored - even a good polish is unlikely to get much of a shine.

To avoid premature loss of shiny surface, avoid friction! Float!!! Try not to kneel too much for mistress, try not to wear harsh denim over rubber, oh, and can I suggest chlorinating your gear? By doing this on new, clean latex, you will make that surface as smooth as glass. This will reduce the friction against other surfaces and extend the life of the 'new shine'.

    PS - welcome aboard mate.

    Cheers, Gord

    Hi all

I work with cleaners every day that i use on cars to bring them back to their new cond i soon get to know a good shine when i see one and use'n the product auto glym rubber and plastic cleaner also known as super sheen, it works great on my latex. i use it on my cars leather seats and dashbord also. and its never made them fade or dull.

I know that the suns UV Rays kill and dry out latex and leather always try to keep them out of the sun.

If you are in the UK it is availible from any good motor spear shop.
And it looks great my other halfs new catsuit. :uk:

Default Where did Shine Come From?

I was thinking about the whole shine thingy. It occurred to me that the idea of shine came AFTER the idea wearing rubber. The means of manufacture provides a very smooth and quite shiny surface to begin with... 4D is shiny on one side, Polymorphe's is shiny on both.

But when did the idea of AUGMENTING the shine by applying polishes, silicones and so on come from? For many it seems that rubber MUST be shined and look liquid like. Mind you I am not taking a position against the notion of high gloss surfaces... but it seems to me it must have be a development as technology offered high gloss surfaced material/fabrics which could be fashioned into garments.

PVC, and PU seem to have a very shiny surface to begin with and may have influenced the idea to shine rubber by applying polishes. These plastic materials may have been part of the impetus to shine. I suspect rubber came first, followed by PVCs and PUs and then the idea to shine rubber evolved.

Does this make sense? Is the shine also related to slipperiness? Isn't this also one appeal of rubber... it can be so frictionless?

What say you about the whole shine thing?

    Default Advice for New member

Hello to all as I'm new to this site. I've been interested in this for a long time but only recently been able to properly do something about it. I have purchased two [rdx]Honour[/rdx] catsuits, one for myself and one for my girlfriend. They are very nice and of wonderful quality but I really want to look after them properly. With them I also bought some eros bodyglide lubricant and some Silicon solution.
After putting on my catsuit (which was great!) I then attempted to shine it with the silicon, but it just went a bit sticky and tacky. When I went to my local fetish shop, they said that the silicon (which is a bluey-toothpaste type of colour) should be put on first as a protector, then on top of that should be sprayed some silicon spray (which i purchased).
After use I was told to wash it with warm soapy water and dry and then shine it again with the bluey silicon stuff to protect it, but this conflicted with some other advice where I was just to talc it down and leave it.
To be totally honest, I'm not too concerned about the shine everytime I wear it, as its more for indoor use and I'm very unlikely to wear it out. I just want to keep it in good condition and most importantly retain the smoothness and the way it feels. I'm probably being a bit naive but I was wondering if I could have some advice as reading through some of the threads is a bit of a minefield of contradictions!
    Thanks
