Smartstim is a wonderful resource for people of all skill levels. My only pseudo problem with them is they tend to shove safety down peoples throat too much, but most of the time it is for a good reason.
We should start a rubber and e-stim thread over there to identify who is into both.

With that in mind then, my first daft question is, does e-stim hurt? Really - is it actually a pleasant sensation, or is it one of those where if you turn the knob too far (pun intended!) it really hurts?

Yes it hurts like hell if you turn up the power to high

Second question is all about self-preservation - I cannot prick my finger with a needle to draw blood (at school in biology we had to do that to look at blood under the microscope - and I failed at the first hurdle!). My natural instinct is to not do something that might hurt. Is e-stim sufficiently controllable and reliable to deliver on the safe side of pleasant?

No way ...you will at times experience real pain .

Third question is about where does it attach. I've seen all sorts of pix - PES did a horny set - showing devices that exceed my dirty little mind. How does that all work? Do you need two points of contact so a current can flow between?
    Yes

Is moisture needed to effect the circuit?
    Not always

Can localised pain occur if a contact is poor?
    Yes very much so

Are certain parts of the anatomy going to be more sensitive than others, requiring a different setting?

    Yes.

So if you are not prepared to have some pain along with the pleasure, keep away from E stim

My only experience with electro stimulation was in a medical sense.
While I was being "prepped" for a TKR (Total Knee Replacement) operation, the anaesthetist (spelling?) began sticking needles into my groin.
    "Woffor?" yelled I.
"Gotta find the knee nerve" said he.
As he probed, I became aware of a faint 'ticking' sensation in my knee. "Right" he said. "Tell me how it feels, on a scale of 1 to 10"
Either the needle got closer to the nerve or he turned the wick up because the sensation, at first a slight tickle, became more intense, like someone drawing on my knee with a sharp pencil. I reported a three, then a six as the sensation became more uncomfortable. With tears in my eyes, I wailed "That's a nine!!" at which point he really sat on the button.
    "Shit!!" I yelled. "That's a flickering thirteen!".
Next thing I knew I was back in the ward, complete with my Knew Knee.
He obviously found what he was looking for, but by The Powers it hurt.

Ok I've never had e-stim or experienced it. But I think I understand it pretty well, the e-stim unit delivers a small amount of current to nerves in the body. These nerves can be localized for pleasure or pain. (Here's an example: In karate they teach you about nerve(s) clusters and how to use them to stop an attacker OR how to use them for pain relief I.E. Acupressure) The unit can also be controlled by range of time the unit delivers stimulation (50milliseconds too 250milliseconds although time may vary by the unit) and the amount of strength (not sure how its listed but it varies the current of the unit from very small milliamps to slightly larger milliamps.)

I have had a Eurotech 302 for a year now and it would break my heart if it expired.

It lends a new dimension to stimulation, lets put it this way if you are tired and worn out a the general is not interested, just connect up the Electrical device, and you will soon see how quickly it comes to attention.

Yes if you screw up the voltage it can be painful but why hurt yourself, control the feeling for your maximum pleasure and I can tell you nothing you tried comes close to this.

Your pleasure is extreme to tell the least, but the nice thing it keeps you on edge for a long time, a truly wonderful state to be in.

What it does through electrical pulses contracts the muscles , and you need current to travel from an earth to a positive.

Now on the Eurostim you get multiple connections and various motions like stroke, tickling, random, orgasm, intense, all controllable with different speeds, also you can connect it to your computer and access their site for it to control what program you like.

The there is also a microphone that can be used for voice activation according to how loud you talk into it, "cool for Dom's".

You have a but plug that carries the earth, then a scrotum ring that contract the muscles there, then the sound that is inserted into the penis, not painfully as one would think.
than as the control is turned up it feels like someone is playing with you.

I can tell you your attention is now totally focused, and the diff motions keep you on a high for as long as you want, nothing to be in that state for an hour, but when finished you are exhausted, at times you feel you are going mad.

One thing that heart sufferers should not use this device.

I have tried to explain the operation as best as possible without going into detail, for more help please contact me.

For the single and lonely a must have machine in my opinion.

As has already been said, you can turn the wick up on an estim device from nothing to torture as you desire. I have used both specialised estim boxes and medical TENS boxes and my favourite is an old three program TENS box as it can give a pulsing that 'works' a butt plug most pleasurably! (that is the butt muscles work involuntarily).

There is the seminal(?) work on Uncle Abduls site

    Nothing above the waist though!
